About James

Age/Grade/School

I am currently 11 years old. I turn 12 in August 2025. I will be going into the sixth grade next year at RiverTree school in Crystal, MN.

Hobbies

I am on soccer and ultimate frisbee teams. In the winter I downhill ski. I love to travel. My favorite place I have been is Rome. I love all of the history there. When my chores are all done I may play the occasional video game or watch a Mission Impossible movie.

Why Babysitting?

I love children and I am happy to give care. I have been responsibly watching my sister, age 8, for the past few years, which gives me experience babysitting, but also means I don’t have to go to Home Depot or Menards with my parents.

My Certifications

I have certifications in both Babysitting Basics and Advanced Child Care Training from the American Red Cross.

FAQs

I bought a waffle maker with money I earned from fixing up lawnmowers with my grandpa. I love waffles.

What Services Do You Provide?

I provide both traditional babysitting and Mother’s Helper services.

What is a Mother’s Helper Service?

Mother’s Helper is where I watch the children while one or more parents are still at home. I will play with them, supervise them, and even feed them while the parents are still in the house.

Will You Cook/Feed Kids?

I love to cook! I can make most kids basics like mac and cheese, hot dogs, sandwiches, frozen meals (corn dogs/chicken nuggets/fish sticks) and of course, my favorite: breakfast for dinner (pictured here).

What Ages Do You Watch? How many kids?

For babysitting I feel comfortable watching any kids who are potty trained up to 10 years old. I will watch one or two kids.

For Mother’s Helper I could work with a child in diapers but I don’t have a lot of experience yet so I may need help.

What are Your Rates?

Babysitting rates are $8 per hour for one kid. $10 per hour for two kids.

Mother’s Helper rates are $5 per hour for one kid and $7 per hour for two.

I can take payment in cash or Venmo. I do not charge extra for cooking/feeding kids.

Do I Need to Provide Transportation?

If you are in the Crystal area I may be able to ride my bike. Otherwise, my parents can usually give me a ride.

How Late Can You Work?

My parents prefer me to be home by 10 pm, but I can get approval for later if necessary.

Emily, Age 8

“James is a great babysitter. I always have so much fun when he watches me and he never lets me into the candy jar. Ok. Maybe one piece after dinner.”

Jeff Kolb, James’s Dad

“James is a very responsible and loving kid. He does a great job watching his sister. He will do a great job watching your kids too.”
